Proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom of God: Love, Joy and Peace in Jesus.
Dear friends in Christ,
Grace to you
and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. How are you?
We pray everything is well with the grace of our Heavenly Father. He is
wonderful.
We are having lovely weather here in Arizona. It was unusually cold for a
couple of days, one morning the temperature went down to 28 degrees but now it
is in the 80s during the day.
Here are a couple of photos of the children that came by for Halloween
treats on
Saturday evening.
We had a lovely lunchtime the other day. First Michi did something that
caused Don to laugh so hard that he couldn’t sit straight. Then, because Naomi
was teasing Don, he pretended to put something on Naomi’s nose. So Naomi
started to sing:
“Be careful little hand what you do, Be careful
little hand what you do, For the Father above who is looking down in Love, Be
careful little hand what you do.”
We all laughed and laughed. After the Psalm for the
day was read, Naomi, as usual, chose the song for us to sing:
“Thank you, Lord for this fine day, Thank you, Lord
for this fine day, Thank you, Lord for this fine day right where we are.” Then
Don added, “Thank you Lord for giving us Naomi.” He also added for Michi, so
after that, we added for Don. It was a joyful time singing and laughing.
We found out that David is coming to be with us for the Thanksgiving
time. Thank you, David. We are very happy to know that and waiting to be with
you for several days.
Jim recommended a book called The Blessing. It is a wonderful
book. It helps us to think how to reach out in love. Don and Michi are both
reading that. How much did we show love while our children were growing? How
can we show love?
We are blessed with wonderful children. They are all very loving. Thank
you, Lord, for the wonderful children. Please guide us all to Your Kingdom.
On Friday, Kris came to pick Naomi up and they went bowling. Last
Saturday, Kris and the three of us sat together and talked about helping Naomi.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship
of the Holy Spirit be with you. (2 Cor 13:14)

We set out on 5 days
to the villages in Nalgonda District and made the first stop at Kadarpathi
Village where we gave for a church to be built. Harvest Time Church gave
for this and it is almost finished--a little plaster, paint and stone
flooring to go, but can have church inside!!
In April, we met
pastor Karnakka and his son, late one night in the village. They were here
7 years and still no church building at all in the village. There had been
many attempts thru the years to get a church going, but it is strong
communist area where many believe in no god....
Pastor had come out
of hinduism 9 years ago at great cost. His wife, then married 23years,
wanted nothing to do with his God! His sons turned their back on their
father. He was faithful to the call on his heart!
Now, we dedicate a
strong facility made of good bricks and strong roof with living quarters in
the back of the church! It is 40x 22 size church and looks good. As the
church grows, the wall seperating the living quarters will be taken down to
enlarge the church!
One son has returned
to stand by the father, and today the 2nd son was one of 3 we baptised in
water!!! PTL!! The wife has communicated she wants to come back. She
wanted her own life, but now regrets her choices and wants to walk with her
husband to serve the Lord! This pastor had tears flowing down his face and
such a smile as hope and blessing filled his heart!
One lady taking baptism, Suarnna, had brought buffalo milk as a tithe
and insisted we stay and drink it! So good to be with a giving people who
are learning and growing!!!
We went to
Shaligoraram (Thorny Bush Village) to meet the pastor and congregation!
Pastor David came to Christ in 1996 and felt God's call. He and perhaps 15
others are trying to establish a small church here. We set inside the area
designated as the church and gathered many children who were walking by
after school was dismissed. We gave salvation bracelets and each got a
cookie. They listened so well to the Gospel and shared that none had ever
heard the story of Jesus. I believe we strengthened the pastor’s hands and
on Saturday are to go back and dedicate the church! They are so motivated
to get it done and promised they'll have it complete!! Incredible!! These
are Pentecostal people who love the Lord and are independent of any outside
help. These are the ones we try to strengthen and teach. They are often in
little villages where most organizations do not go. But these are lives
that need to hear of Christ also.
Help us pray--the goal was 30 churches this year and have found 20. We
don't want to make it happen by force, but as God brings diligent hands we
can strengthen and help, it is a joy!!
It is such a joy to
serve the Lord! We will stay in the village the next few nights, but plan
to come to the provincial town and send a note. Mornings in the villages
are so nice, sounds, sights, smells of country life waking up!! Today we go
check out the newly formed English Medium School at the mission...
God bless each one
that is praying!!!

(At the Special Touch camp
last summer for disabled people that Naomi attended one of the speakers was
a disabled missionary named Kerry Mauldin. He sends us almost daily
reports of his travels through the villages of India, helping the poor
villagers financially and leading people to Christ.) |
A Major Problem
by Don Murphy
11/04/2009
A terrible problem that we face today is that the gospel that Jesus
preached is usually not preached in our churches. The gospel about Jesus, about
His death on the cross, is preached but not the Gospel of Jesus, the gospel that
He preached.
This is a major problem because of the terrible consequences that result
from not obeying the Gospel of Jesus. Paul writes that the Lord Jesus shall
take vengeance on them that that DO NOT OBEY THE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus
Christ. (II Thess 1:7‑9) Peter asks what shall the end be of they that DO NOT
OBEY THE GOSPEL of God? (I Peter 4:17)
The Gospel that the Lord Jesus preached was the good news of the kingdom of
God, the love, joy and peace that its members can have. That is the main theme
of the preaching of Jesus and His apostles. That gospel is not the gospel
preached in today’s churches. Jesus never once mentioned the word ‘grace’ which
is the common theme of the preaching today.
At the very beginning of His ministry the Bible says that Jesus went about
in Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom.
(Mt 4:23) Again it states that Jesus went about preaching the gospel of the
kingdom. (Mt 9:35) After John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee,
preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, "The
time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe the
good news.” (Mk 1:14-15) Jesus said, "I
must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this
purpose I have been sent.” (Luke 4:43) Jesus went through every
city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings [gospel] of the
kingdom of God. (Luke 8:1) The law and the prophets were until John. Since
that time the Kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into
it. (Luke 16:16) The gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world
as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. (Mt 24:14)
The inspired Word of God makes it abundantly plain: The "good news" that
Jesus Christ brought was about the Kingdom of God, a place of love, joy and
peace in the Holy Spirit. (Rom 14:17) How wonderful it is to live in that
love. John teaches us that God is love and those who live in love live in God
and God lives in them. (1 John 4:16) Only when we are in the kingdom of God
can we experience that wonderful sensation.
Jesus said, “If you obey my commands, you
will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in
his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy
may be complete.” (John 15:10-11)
Jesus said, “Whoever has my commands and
obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my
Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him… If anyone loves me, he
will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and
make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching.”
(John 14:21-24)
The purpose of the commands of the Lord Jesus is to teach us how to live in
love, how to experience the love, joy and peace available in the Kingdom of
God. These commands help us to live in Jesus and allow Jesus to live in us.
(John 14:20, 17:20-23) We want to be like Paul who said, “I have been crucified
with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” (Gal 2:20)
The terrible problem that we face today is that the churches usually do not
teach the gospel that Jesus taught, how to live a life of love, joy and peace
that we can have when we live according to the teachings of the Lord Jesus, when
we live in his kingdom of love. The churches today will probably say that they
do teach the gospel that Jesus taught but you are highly unlikely to hear them
actually teaching their people to obey all of the Lord’s commands as the Lord
said to do in the Great Commission.
